Owen Wilson has joined the live-action/CG movie Marmaduke, and will voice the beloved character in Fox’s adaptation of the long-running comic strip.

The story follows a family named the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County with their dog Marmaduke, a slobbery pooch who creates chaos wherever he goes.

In adapting the strip created in 1954 by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming, the script by Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio sees Marmaduke navigate a volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, woo the purebred of his dreams and overcome a fall from grace. Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy play the humans, while Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Marlon and Damon Wayans supply the voices.

This movie sounds a lot like Homeward Bound meets Dr. Dolittle by way of Beethoven. I have never read the comic strip but I am sure this will be a nice little family comedy to please.

Tom Dey is directing, and John Davis is producing the family comedy, which has a June 2010 release date.

Last time we reported on Rodriguez he announced that he was going to direct a remake of The Predators for Fox. In that report he mentioned he was going to direct The Jetsons but nothing was mentioned as to when he would work on it and we simply thought he would direct it after Sin City 2 and Predators. Predators is scheduled for a 2010 release next year and last we heard was that Sin City 2 was going into production this year for a 2010 release. So is he working on Sin City 2, Predators and Machete this year?

Machete i can see because he is just co-directing it and it isn’t going to require that many days of shooting. I can also see Sin City 2 not taking long to film but getting the plethora of mainstream actors involved and rumored for a shooting schedule will be difficult and then there is Predators which Fox I am assuming will want him to have a significant amount of time shooting.

Now Rodriguez is mentioning that he wants to shoot the live action version of The Jetsons next year?

MTV Movies Blog recently spoke with Rodriguez who revealed the news.

“I’ve been developing [The Jetsons] for awhile,” Rodriguez said, adding that he’s hoping to start shooting “next year.”

While the director did confirm that the film would be live-action, he was predictably mum about other details. Adam F. Goldberg (Fanboys) penned an early draft of the script, but it has since been reworked.

“We’re writing the script right now,” Rodriguez said excitedly, before declining to drop any hints about the plot or potential casting choices.

I don’t know about you, but I have no problems with Rodriguez shooting this next year… but I am just confused on his shooting schedule for all his other projects and how he will organize them. Predators seems like is first priority, then Sin City 2 and I guess The Jetsons? As long as he casts William H. Macy as George, Danny Devito as Spacely Sprockets, Mary Steenburgen as Jane I will be fine. I have no idea who’d bea good Elroy or Judy but I have heard Megan Fox’s name dropped for Judy?
