Overture Films has released the first clips for the upcoming remake, Let Me In. I saw the foreign version last year, Let the Right One In, and enjoyed it very much. I am looking forward to see how much this film differs from that version and how much darker and deeper it goes.

The new version is directed by Matt Reeves and the clip below is titled the “FishHead Car Accident Scene.” In the scene, Abby’s human handler of sorts, “The Father” (Richard Jenkins), kills a young boy in order to bring him back to her for food. I love this scene and the creepy bag over his head makes it that much more.

The film will have its world premiere at The Toronto International Film Festival in September 2010, and its US premiere on the opening night of Fantastic Fest on September 23, 2010. The film is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2010 in the United States.

Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) stars as Abby, a mysterious 12-year old girl, who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road). Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbor. Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and produced by legendary British horror brand Hammer Films, is based on the best-selling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma (Let The Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist, and the highly-acclaimed film of the same name.

Vulture reports Scarlett Johansson is joining Vince Vaughan in Dave O. Russell’s new movie Old St. Louis. With October set as the shooting start date, it looks like the female lead position in Alfonso Cuarón’s sci-fi project Gravity is vacant again. At least that is what we are assuming, being that Johansson replaced Angelina Jolie in the sci-fi project and this new role with Vaughan doesn’t seem to fit in the schedule. Perhaps Warner Bros. should get Angelina Jolie back to the project? The only other alternative is that Cuaron’s project has been delayed.

A Paper Moon-type film, Old St. Louis has Johannson with a chance to show her acting chops in the story about a divorced, traveling toy-salesman who reconnects with his teen daughter after years on the road. Johansson would play Vaughn’s paramour, a secretary who accompanies them on their cross-country sales jaunt. The daughter is being played by Chloe Moretz.

As far as Gravity is concerned, all we know is that it will be starring Robert Downey, Jr. and the film is a contemporary survival thriller that follows a woman (Johansson?) as she attempts to make her way back to earth after a satellite crash sets off a chain reaction of further crashes.

We will keep you posted on both films and what presumably happens with Johannson.

A few days ago in a story from The Los Angeles Times, Chloe Moretz was in talks to join the cast of Karyn Kusama’s The Rut well now we got the official word from the young actress herself that she is officially attached to the project.

“I am attached to The Rut, which is going to be this great film from Karyn Kusama about a girl who must find her father after he goes missing. Should be a great film and we hope to start filming on that later this year.”

The thirteen year old actress who is a self proclaimed Audrey Hepburn fan with her favorite films being Breakfast at Tiffany’s, is currently on the London set filming Hugo Cabret, an adaptation of the classic children’s novel, with Martin Scorcese at the helm. Moretz was someone who couldn’t shy away from buttering up good things on her current director, an Oscar winner and directing legend.

“He is remarkable and so sweet. I mean its amazing to watch him work and see what he sees in a film. You learn so much from a guy like Mr. Scorcese,” said Moretz, who will be playing the film’s female lead, Isabelle. ”My character is an eccentric of sorts. But she helps this boy Hugo out on this fantasy adventure he takes while secretly living in a train station in Paris.”

Its amazing talking to Moretz who has accomplished so much in her young career how good a head she has on her shoulder and the things she understands and thinks about as she grows up as an actress. One of the things we talked about was her black up plan. Things do not last forever and if her career in acting hit a standstill what would she do?

“I have thought of that because nothing lasts forever and I am young. I mean I love this world so I would try to find other opportunities in writing, directing and even producing,” says Moretz who eluded that her own production company is already in the works. “One of my dreams is to play Shakespeare’s Juliet at her real age of 14 and that is something I hope you all get to see soon. I love the story of Romeo and Juliet and there is a couple of people already involved in making this happen plus I am starting my own production company to help pursue this.”

As far as playing Hit Girl, something that got her critical acclaim, Moretz is not someone who thinks about the bad things that may go with that role, the controversy that many try to put on it. Kick-Ass hits Blu-ray and DVD August 3, 2010 but Moretz will not have any personalized commentaries on the release but she tells us that there will be a feature where we sort of see how she became Hit Girl, with the training and stuff that was involved in bringing her to life. Lastly, we asked if she planned to return to the role of Hit Girl for Kick-Ass 2 and she told us that “I’d love to when we hear more about it and Matthew Vaughn gets done shooting X-men.”

Moretz will be seen next in in the Matt Reeves directed remake Let Me In as Abby a 12 year old vampire. “Matt was such an awesome director and I love this role of Abby. One of the things about this version of the book that we are making is we hope to explore deeper issues and things about the characters than perhaps the previous version [Let the Right On In].”Let Me In gets released on October 1, 2010.

Deadline has posted the first international trailer for Matt Reeves’ re-adaptation remake of Let The Right One In. The film stars some pretty impressive young actors, Codi Smit McPhee and Chloe Moretz. So I didn’t expect this trailer to rock as much as it did but I know it will get some eyebrows up. I loved the original film and this one I think has something unique about it in its own right. As far as teasers go this isn’t the best but towards the end is when it gets pretty intense. Moretz looks awesome as the vampire while the look and feel of the movie is dead on. It definitely closely resembles the original film, the same beats, maybe the scares are a little bit more scary. It seems like Reeves has been able to ramp that up quite a bit, probably a budget thing. Reeves looks like he knows what he is doing with this movie and I think it will deliver.

Based on the ongoing comic series by Mark Millar and John Romida Jr. Kick-Ass! follows a young high school teenager who dons a costume to fight criminals after being inspired by the vigilantes in his comic books. No super powers, he dubs himself “Kick-Ass” and becomes a local celebrity. Along the way he meets costumed vigilantes Hit Girl and Big Daddy as well as the Red Mist.

The film stars Nic Cage, Chloe Moretz and Aaron Johnson along with Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

A twisted, funny, high-octane adventure, director Matthew Vaughn brings KICK-ASS to the big screen. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime.
Everyone went to middle school, and everyone can probably tell you how much it sucked. But what if you were able to capture the events of middle school everyday in a journal, personifying it like a 20 something blogger would with a penchant for expressing every detail like it’s the end of the world? That is pretty much what you get with Dairy of a Wimpy Kid and we have the first trailer and poster (above) for the film based on the best selling illustrated novel series from Jeff Kinney. The film is being directed by Thor Freudenthal (via ReelzChannel).

The film chronicles the adventures of middle school student Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) over the course of an academic year, as told through Greg’s diary and hand-drawn cartoons. Chloe Moretz is also in the film as she playing Angie (who may be a based of off book character Holly Hills). The movie plans to be released April 2, 2010 by 20th Century Fox.

Fused Film contributor Justin Vactor is a huge fan of the comic series and has read every book, but he’s hesitant about this film.

“I don’t think they will be able to capture the magic of the books, which is the humor. The illustrations may seem childish but the writing and the humor are universally relatable. We all went to middle school and we all can relate to having a somewhat dysfunctional family. My advice is to go check out some of the books at your local library. You will probably have a better time reading the books than watching the film.”

Courtesy of AICN we have gotten a new look at a fresh Kick-Ass! poster featuring what is sure to be a popular character in the film The Red Mist. Played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse this awesome new image from Matthew Vaughn’s big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s popular comic book. Check the earlier 4 posters we posted not too long ago.

Red Mist is just one of many costumed vigilantes in the film that join forces with our main character, Kick-Ass! fighting injustice and all that stuff. In the comic version, Red Mist teams with Kick-Ass on street patrol and both gain great public popularity after nearly being killed rescuing a cat from a burning building.

A twisted, funny, high-octane adventure, director Matthew Vaughn brings Kick-Ass to the big screen. The film tells the story of an average teenager named Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name: Kick-Ass! He then assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copycats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage). Kick-Ass comes to theaters everywhere on April 16th, 2010.

Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins will headline the cast of Let Me in, Matt Reeves’ American adaptation of Let the Right One In, when principal photography begins this fall in New Mexico.

Reeves (Cloverfield) has cast Smit-McPhee (The Road) and Moretz (500 Days of Summer) in the two lead adolescent roles of Owen and Abby for the eagerly awaited horror feature. Jenkins will play the lead adult character known as Hakan in the original film.

Based on the bestselling Swedish novel, “Lat den Ratte Komma In,” by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, Let Me In is a contemporary vampire tale about a young boy who befriends a girl new to his neighborhood. The film is a remake of the highly acclaimed Swedish film, Lat den Ratte Komma In, also known as, Let the Right One in.

Hammer acquired the remake rights to Let the Right One in at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival where the film took home the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature, and has fast-tracked the film for a November 2009 start date. The film is a Hammer Films production with a projected 2010 release in the U.S. by Overture Films. Exclusive Film Distribution is handling worldwide sales and distribution of the film.

Producing the film are Hammer’s Simon Oakes, Guy East and Nigel Sinclair and Oscar-winner Donna Gigliotti. Hammer’s Alex Brunner and Tobin Armbrust will executive produce along with John Ptak, Philip Elway and Fredrik Malmberg. Overture’s Robert Kessel, EVP Production & Acquisitions, will oversee production for the studio. Swedish producers John Nordling and Carl Molinder, who produced the original film, are also involved as producers on this remake.

The Australian-born Smit-McPhee, 13, stars alongside Viggo Mortensen in The Road, a film festival favorite due out in November. He previously earned the AFI Young Actor’s Award in 2007 for his role in Romulus, My Father. He was rumored for this role back in July of this year.

Moretz, 12, will star in the much-talked-about Kick-Ass next spring and previously appeared in 500 Days of Summer and The Amityville Horror. She has been nominated each of the past three years for a Young Artist Award.

Jenkins recent work includes Burn After Reading, Step Brothers and television’s Six Feet Under. He is due to star in several upcoming projects including the much-anticipated Cabin in the Woods from Joss Whedon.

It was announced last year that Reeves will write and direct Let Me In. I think the casting is perfect thus far and having seen the foreign version of the story I can say that these child actors will be just as good maybe better.
