Liv Tyler Encounters Pharmacy Dangers of the Third Kind in Ti West’s ‘The Side Effect’
Liv Tyler is the latest name to join Ti West’s next feature film titled The Side Effects. The film is not to be confused with Steven Soderbergh’s similarly titled film. Both with explore the dangers of pharmaceutical abuse, but the only difference is that in West’s movie, it will explore that danger in space. The actress will play as Catherine Rigby, a woman who spends several months alone in space as an experimental subject for a global pharmaceutical company, and somehow becomes inexplicably pregnant.
Ted Hope and Peter Phok, who helped produce Ti West’s indie horror films The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers, will produce The Side Effect as well. Hope, who will reunite with West and Liv Tyler (who appeared in the Hope produced Super) had nothing but positive things to say about West.
I was blown away by Ti’s films. I wondered why the studios and big budget guys hadn’t yet scooped him up. His movies are note-perfect displays of tension and tone. Each aspect of his filmmaking serves the whole. It’s rare to see such talent on display.
I am impressed with Ti West’s work so far, and while I have yet to see The Innkeepers, the film itself has been gathering positive buzz, which only bodes well for the upcoming The Side Effects.
