Kristen Wiig is Tired of ‘Bridesmaids 2′ Questions & Confirms She Won’t Appear in the Sequel
It may not come as a complete surprise to you, but talks of a Bridesmaids sequel quickly surfaced when the movie became the sleeper hit of 2011. A great script, a hilarious cast, and stellar performances from everyone what more could you ask for? So of course Universal Pictures would pursue a sequel, what movie studio would explore it? But for the past few weeks, everyone was talking about the fact that Bridesmaids 2 could be without Kirsten Wiig. And today, Wiig confirms that she will not be involved with the sequel.
Previous reports speculated that it bonus that Kristen Wiig and the cast received and that talks between Wiig studio execs didn’t go exactly as planned. But I like to think that it was Wiig’s decision to go on to write other projects with her Bridesmaid co-writer Annie Mumolo, that affected her decision to appear in the Bridesmaids sequel.
The confirmation comes from an interview between Wiig and the people over at Vulture, where the actress finally put her foot down on her appearance in Bridesmaids 2, “We’re not planning on doing one,” she said. “We had a special time making the first one, but we’re really excited to try something else.”
Be as that may, Universal will not stop sifting through ideas for a Bridesmaids 2. They were already considering making the movie with or without Wiig, but a Bridesmaids 2 without Wiig, wouldn’t be the same as its predecessor. In fact it would feel really empty without the actress.
