Confirmed: Sylvester Stallone Confirms that ‘The Expendables 2′ will be PG-13
Confirmed: The Expendables 2 will be a PG-13 movie. Sylvester Stallone confirmed the news to AICN. My thought is that its a stupid move and to make it accessible to that kids can watch it will ruin the entire experience of the movie. The first Expendables movie was based on that no-holds-bar action and language. But to pull back on that ruins the movie itself and won’t be anything like the first Expendables.
If you didn’t think that The Expendables had enough violence, offensive language, or action in it, then you won’t be seeing much of it in The Expendables 2. Of course I am joking about the first Expendables movie not having enough no-hold-bar action in it, but about the second one toning it down might very well be true. If Chuck Norris has his way.
The actor recently spoke to Polish site Gazeta, where the star claimed that per one of his conditions for signing on to the project, The Expendables 2 would be cleaning up for a PG-13 classification.
Here’s what he had to say about his participation on the flick:
“In ‘Expendables 2,’ there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. Fot this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this,” Norris explained. “Due to that I said I won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13.
It’s hard to see Norris making such an odd, but not surprising, request knowing full well what The Expendables is all about. A movie full of B-list actors in a high-octane action movie where the violence and language has no barrier. But the reason why its not a surprising request is that Chuck Norris has always been for accessibility. He wants audiences of all ages to be able to watch any movie he is in, so why stop doing that now. Norris has always had strong moral convictions, but if The Expendables 2 is going to aim – it could very well be, but its not up to Norris – for a PG-13 rating, then it would need to tone down the language and violence, and that might not even happen.
