Kung Fu Panda Writers Will Write The Karate Kid Sequel
One of my favorite animated films from a few years ago was Kung Fu Panda and I am glad the writers, Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, are getting some love, especially in a genre they know something about – kung fu. The writers are set to pen the first draft of the sequel to the immensely successful The Karate Kid remake that hit this summer by storm.
It will be interesting to see how the sequel expands from the first movie. Being that the story was a fish out of water in China, how can they go outside that? The original 1984 film saw the sequel go to Japan, so would this version’s sequel would reverse that and go to the US? Doubtful, but it will be interesting to see where these talented writers take the next movie while evolving Jaden Smith’s character, especially because he will be older this time around.
I’d like to see him hit an international fighting team like Best of the Best meets Karate Kid, or even better, perhaps he has to fight Jackie Chan’s character, or even better, Ralph Macchio.
