Kevin Smith’s Red State circles Dermot Mulroney, Kyle Gallner, Michael Angarano, and Stephen Root
Via his Twitter account, Kevin Smith said that Red State will begin shooting on September 22, so it’s natural that a month out they lock down casting. In a story from The Wrap, Dermot Mulroney, Kyle Gallner, Michael Angarano, and Stephen Root are presently in talks to co-star in Kevin Smith’s political horror film Red State.
If you are not familiar with Red State, it stars Michael Parks (Grindhouse) and is somewhat loosely-based on Reverend Fred Phelps of the hateful Westboro Baptist Church.
Smith has not yet finished the script, but the director says he wants “recognizable unknowns” in some of the script’s main roles. He is doing this because these actors will most likely appear in smaller supporting roles.
Red State comes to theaters in 2010. The film is directed by Kevin Smith.
Do you like this story? What do you think of these castings? Are you interested in a political thriller from Smith?
