TV News:BET greenlights Reed Between the Lines Pilot

BET has greenlit the pilot Reed Between the Lines.  Tracee Ellis Ross, daughter of Diana Ross and former star of Girlfriends, will star in and produce the project with Kellie Griffin attached as a writer.   Ross will play Dr. Carla Reed (Ross),a psychiatrist who has a juggle being a wife and a mom with her thriving career.  Production is slated to begin on Aug. 11 in Atlanta.  Entertainment. This pilot is the latest announcement in BET’s rededication to original scripted series.  The Queen Latifah-produced series Let’s Stay Together and the onetime CW network show The Game should also be appearing on the BET network in the fall.

I am curious to see this series.  I think Tracee Ellis Ross is a talented actress and I enjoyed her on Girlfriends and on the short-lived MTV hip-hop/comedy show The Lyrcist Lounge Show.  I’m also glad to see a few more scripted series on BET to balance out all of the “reality” shows.
