Casting Couch: Jeremy Piven, Sandra Vergara, Escher Holloway, Tim Allen

Welcome to a Friday edition of The Casting Couch where we find out about all the casting news in tinsel town. Apparently, Ari Gold is setting himself in less than Ari Gold fashion with a small indie project. Sandra Vergara, the real-life sister of the hot Spanish chick on modern family is lining up a role in Fright night while another indie project gets two stars attached. Lastly, Time Allen apparently is contractually obligated for a Toy Story 4 if that ever happens.

>> Deadline New York reports that Thomas Jane and Jeremy Piven are going to star in I Melt With You. Mark Pellington (Henry Poole Is Here) is directing this low budget film. The film will start shooting in early August in Northern California. The story “follows the interconnecting lives of four men.” Glenn Porter wrote the screenplay from a story he and Mark Pellington conceived. The budget is said to be under $1 million dollars.

>> Sandra Vergara has boarded director Craig Gillespie’s Fright Night remake of the 1980s teen horror cult classic for DreamWorks, according to Heat Vision. Vergara will play the girlfriend and assistant to a magician, played by David Tennant, reluctantly recruited by Anton Yelchin to fight off a vampire.

>> Escher Holloway and Sarah Habel have signed on to star in the indie gangster crime drama A New York Heartbeat from filmmaker Tjardus Greidanus, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Set in New York in 1957, the movie follows Spider (Holloway), a young gang leader who blunders into the gambling nest of a notorious gangster, makes off with a suitcase full of money and is beaten and left for dead. He is taken in by a sheltered young woman named Tamara (Habel), who hides him along with her reclusive, bedridden uncle, an exiled crime lord.

>> This isn’t much casting as it is just a casting contract story but The Wrap is reporting that Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, is under contract to reprise his role as the iconic spaceman in a potential Toy Story 4. That said, this doesn’t mean that Pixar is going to make another feature-length sequel for the franchise. It just might mean that Tim Allen, and some others in the cast, signed up for multiple films some time ago in the event the studio wanted to move forward with them. Its standard contract practice for franchises.  However, with the recent success of Toy Story 3, Disney and Pixar have to at least be thinking about a fourth film though a rep from Disney commented saying:  ”We are thrilled with the audiences response to Toy Story 3, and fans will be seeing more of the Toy Story characters in a short film next year. At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding another full-length feature.”
