Could Ryan Phillippe Now Be Captain America? The Casting Saga Continues…

Our friends over at Hitfix are reporting that Ryan Phillippe is the latest actor that Marvel Studios is considering to play The First Avenger: Captain America. This is just another name out of a bunch of names the studio has thrown out over the past few weeks. Just last week Chris Evans, Mike Vogel and Garrett Hedlund were the favorites whereas a few days before were John Krasinski, Ryan McPartlin and some others.

Now it seems the search continues even after Hugo Weaving has been cast as The Red Skull, the main villain of the film.

The studio is really looking at everyone possible actor they could that fits the bill so I am going to mention a few more, in case they stumble across this article. Liam Hemsworth, Luke Ford and Justin Hartley are also viable candidates for the character as well. However that being said I actually like Phillippe and think he and Mike Vogel are the best choices the studio has at this point. Phillippe could be pretty good as he would definitely have that leadership persona needed to lead the Avengers.

    I like the idea of Liam Hemsworth (if not a bit nepotistic since his brother is playing Thor) for a 19 yr old, if they went young on Capt.A. The problem is that he is an Aussie, and they're only looking at American actors so far.
    Surprised there's not more being said about Garrett Hedlund… his star will be on the rise after Tron comes out, which should be not too long before Capt.A. He's my fav. so far.

    I like the idea of Justin Hartley. He might not be as well known as Ryan Phillipe or some of the other guys, but I think he has the perfect persona for Captain America-and a good background to boot. He makes for a great Green Arrow on Smallville, and i can see him crossing over into movie verse and suiting up for this film.
