Tom Cruise and Paramount Make Deal for Mission:Impossible IV
Paramount Pictures has made a deal with Tom Cruise to reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the JJ Abrams produced, Mission Impossible 4. Cruise will co-produce the film with J.J. Abrams. Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are already attached to write the script as well. The intention is to make this Cruise’s next film and start shooting by summer for a Memorial Day 2011 weekend release.
It had been reported for awhile that Cruise would simply co-produce the film which would be a whole new series with a new hero and a small cameo for his Ethan Hunt character. That is fact not true as it was also reported that the next installment “will be very much an Ethan Hunt pic with Cruise as the main character.”
I am glad he is coming back. Ethan Hunt is as viable a character as Bond or Bourne. I can’t wait to see what the creatives come up with for this next installment either. I am in the minority but the third film was not bad at all.
