First Look: Universal’s Comedy Get Him To the Greek with Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, Passion Play With Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke
The sequel/spin-off to the comedy hit, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, starring British comedian, Russell Brand and Jonah Hill called Get Him to the Greek now has its first look with a new synopsis, release date and image. Rather than entirely focusing itself on Brand’s character Aldous Snow, the movie revolves around fresh out of college, record company intern named Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill). The film was written and directed by Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nick Stoller and also stars Sean “P-Diddy” Combs. The film plans to be will now be released nationwide on June 4th 2010.
The official plot synopsis is: “Aaron Greenberg (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.’s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril. British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her back…right before kick-starting his world domination.”
Another film we haven’t talked about since announcing the casting news is Passion Play, the film is written and directed by Mitch Glazer, who wrote Scrooged. The film is billed with the tagline – “an angel under the thumb of a ruthless gangster is saved by a trumpet player down on his luck.” The movie stars Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke in the lead roles.
Fox plays the angel whereas Rourke plays the trumpet player. Bill Murray is playing the gangster who originally has Toby Kebbell cast in the role, only to have him leave the film. The first look at the film comes from EW which describes the film as a “romance about a troubled trumpet player and a winged beauty who rescue each other from dire circumstances.” The articles reports Rourke saying, “she has wings, so she was sort of an oddity trapped in a carnival act. She’s been a prisoner her whole life, and she has no understanding of trust. She’s very vulnerable and delicate.”
The movie sounds very interesting and I am certainly interested in seeing the film. I am not on the Fox of Rourke Bandwagon but the concept of the film sounds intriguing and Glazer has made some good stuff. EW says the film has wrapped so maybe we’ll see a trailer soon.
