Stargate’s Jason Momoa Frontrunner for Conan
Stargate Atlantis’ Jason Momoa known for his role on the sci-fi series as Ronin is one of two frontrunners for the role of Conan in the reboot of pulp fantasy character on the big screen.
Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Momoa and actor Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga: New Moon) are the two actors being considered to play Conan. There is a third person being considered as well with the site reporting that it is a more-established actor that is being considered before they decide on the role, but the actor’s name wasn’t revealed.
The remake that once had Brett Ratner set to direct is now being helmed by Marcus Nispel. Production is reportedly slated to begin March 15. Being the last of his tribe and having to watch his father die a cruel death, we find Conan determined to avenge his peoples slaughter by killing all those who led the attack on the Cimmerians, including the all-powerful Khalar Singh. He is prepared to die in order to accomplish his goal. What Conan did not expect, was to find a reason to live. In an earlier article the casting information for Conan came out and they are calling for the age range of late 20s to early 30s. Muscle bound and all that crap. Someone who looks like he has been through some battles or two.
Jason Momoa would be my pick only because he looks like a tatered warrior. He’d have to get rid of the dreds but he’d be perfect. I do not know if he has the chops but then again Arnold didn’t say much in the original and it immortalized his career. I wonder who the third actor is because it may trump my choice for Momoa.
