Sony Postpones 2011 Release Date for Spider-man 4
Back in early December there was a story about Spider-man 4 possibly being postponed or on delay due to disagreement over the villain. Now a pretty substantial source is reporting its delay.
Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Spider-Man 4 no longer has a firm start date and that it was “unlikely” that the film will be ready for its planned May 11, 2011 release date, according to one of the site’s insider’s at Sony.
“It is unlikely that May 11, 2011, date will be made,” a Sony insider just told me today. “It depends on how quickly the script can get in.”
The site was also reporting that they had gotten a hold of an email sent to the visual effects team working on the film that indicated Sam Raimi was having issues with the story that were being tended to, which was why the production was put on hold.
There has been three writers on the film and not one of them has fixed issues for Raimi? This is ridiculous, if I was Sony I would just pull the plug on this film. Writers James Vanderbilt, David Lindsay-Abaire, Gary Ross all did drafts on the film and now it seems that the studio is waiting on another rewrite from Alvin Sargent, who did writes on Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3.
