Deadpool Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick To Scribe G.I. Joe Sequel

A writing duo that is having a big year after their cult hit Zombieland was met with massive success continues their geek train down the tracks. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who were just recently pegged to draft the script for Deadpool are now set for Paramount’s sequel to G.I. Joe.

The story came from Collider this afternoon. At the time they just told us that Paramount was going ahead with the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and that a writer had been hired. They did not mention that writer though until a later update with the news of Reese and Wernick.

Back in August we had heard rumblings of a sequel put into development at Paramount, but there has been nothing on the project since…until now.  It also wasn’t immediately clear if Stephen Sommers would return to direct the sequel or not.

The site also reported that all the main principle characters will be back as the actors are signed on for a sequel. Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, have already signed on for sequels.
