TV News: NBC’s New JJ Abrams Series Undercovers Has Gone Social

A new teaser site and twitter has been set up for the new series, Undercovers, being developed by JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot banner for NBC. The series plans to be a mix between the Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The show has already casted Boris Kodjoe as the male lead in the series as well as Gerald McRaney who will play the CIA handler for the couple. JJ Abrams plans to shepherd the series by directing its pilot episode. NBC has high hopes for the show winning a lucrative and intense bid for the project and needing a show like this to get back into the ratings race. In 2006 there was a series with similar concept on CBS called Smith but that series only lasted 7 episodes. Instead of spies, the series revolved around a crew of criminals. I am really looking forward to this series and could care less if it is using stuff from previously done shows and entertainment, I have faith in JJ to package the show very well and make it something worth watching and unique in his own right. Abrams co-wrote the project with Josh Reims, who first worked with Abrams on his WB Network series Felicity and was an executive producer alongside him on ABC’s What About Brian - both series didn’t make it past a season.
