TV News: CBS to Solve More Crimes With Anthony Zuiker’s Cyber Crimes
I always wondered what War Games/Hackers the TV show would be like and I am not suprised it becomes something in the vein of a crime solving serial from the network that does it best, CBS. With concerns over cyber crimes growing in recent years, particularly when it comes to cyber terrorism this makes for an interesting show idea.
CSI creator Anthony Zuiker is developing Cyber Crimes for CBS. The project has been given a script plus penalty commitment. The hourlong procedural drama centers on a newly formed government agency that fights the modern onslaught of Internet- and technology-driven offenses. I like the concept and urge the creator to use a combination of those hip young MIT grads with the edgy punk hackers with old school cryptologists.
Zuiker created the project and will exec produce. Zuiker’s script goes one step beyond the government, which doesn’t yet have an umbrella division devoted to cyber crimes.
It was Zuiker’s recent interest in tech issues that led to the creation of Cyber Crimes. The scribe has spent time in Washington meeting with the CIA, FBI and Department of Defense as part of the show’s research.
