Taylor Lautner To Play Max Steel? Not Such A Bad Idea Paramount

This news has been confirmed! According to Variety, Lautner has signed on to play Max Steel and the film is said to be in the same vein as Transformers. No director is attached yet.

Where do you go after stealing the hearts of every preteen girl and their mother as the purveyor of Team Jacob in the immensely successful Twilight Saga? Well simply put you get your self a franchisable action role so that dudes at least respect your and those girls can continue to cry and scream over your heartrob-ness.

Taylor Lautner also known as Jacob Black to many, since to them he is one in the same, is circling the popular Max Steel character to play him in a live-action version being developed by Paramount.

The Los Angeles Times, says that Lautner is looking to take on the role a big screen adaptation of the popular Mattle toy line. For those who do not know Max Steel first hit store shelves in 2001 and quickly became a $100 million franchise that spawned three seasons of a hugely popular animated series.

The film would follow the adventures of Josh McGrath, a 19-year-old extreme sports athlete who becomes endowed with the powers of nano-technological machines. They take over his body, making him nearly invincible. And they allow him to change his appearance at will.

Seems like a perfect role for Lautner to dive into as to not be soley locked into Twilight and for Paramount to have a young actor that is guaranteed to bring in a female audience for a male heavy story/character.

J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani are currently writing the screenplay for a targeted a 2011 release date.
