Paramount to Develop a History-Based Action Adventure Called The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday
Paramount Pictures has picked up an interesting action-adventure spec The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday from Chad St. John and plans to adapt into a Western-style tentpole in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The studio is keeping the plot under wraps, but the story is described as a history-based action adventure tale in the vein of Pirates. Holliday is the famously tuberculosis-ridden gunfighter best known for his friendship with Western lawman Wyatt Earp and for his role in 1881′s Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Ariz.
His most beloved portrayal is from Val Kilmer in the 1993 film Tombstone. Holliday is a great character for this type of idea but I just worry people will be hard pressed to rally around him due to the love of Val Kilmer’s portrayal. I can see though a studio casting someone like Robert Downey Jr. in the role.
Whats interesting about Holliday is like Jack Sparrow he is quirky but he has such an interesting backstory to play off of. He is a cheerful mix of despair and courage.
Tales were told that he had murdered men in different parts of the country; that he had robbed and committed all manner of crimes, and yet, when persons were asked how they knew it, they could only admit it was hearsay (sort of like Sea Turtles).

Yeah Doc Holliday was an interesting character and an intriguing one at that. They should have plenty of information to pull from.
