James Cameron to Remake The Fantastic Voyage in 3D

MTV Movies Blog spoke with the director at the Avatar world premiere in London he is planning on remaking The Fantastic Voyage in 3D. Production Weekly announded the rumor yesterday when they reported via Twitter that “James Cameron is developing a Shane Salerno-scripted sci-fi action script for Fox, described as an ‘event’ film set in the future.”
It seems Cameron won’t be in the director’s chair on this film though, as he seems to be only involved in a producer capacity at this time. The original film centered on a team of scientists who shrink themselves to microscopic sizes and are injected into a dying diplomat’s body, mavuevering a microscopic ship through his body to surgically repair the blood clot in his brain.
I loved the original and think of no one better to bring a new version to the big screen than Cameron. Even though he is not directing his imagination and creativity passed through producing will make for a great film for sure at least a foundation.
