Zombieland Sequel On Its Way…But In 3D?
One of my favorite films of the year, Zombieland, is getting sequel, which is no shock as it kind of left you hanging for a little bit. Moviehole recently spoke to Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, who revealed that they were discussing a sequel to the film in 3-D.
But the most interesting development? Fleischer says the next film will likely be 3-D – yep, mother-hopping three-dimensional Woody vs. Zombie action!!
Believing “the genre really lends itself to [3-D]“, and convinced – via what we’re hearing and seeing of Avatar - the technology is now there, Fleischer’s very keen to throw a few zombie gizzards in our direction. “Dead” cool, right!?
I think this is cool there is a sequel but like I have said time and time again, 3D is a gimmick, even the Cameron version of 3D, being used for a Zombieland film. The only reason 3D works for Avatar is the immersion factor fits the way a story like that is told. The story was originally developed in 2005 as a spec script for television TV pilot in the summer of 2005. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had said the idea for Zombieland had been living in their head for “four and half years.” I suspect a sequel will not be that hard to come up with in the film.
