Dolph Lundgren May Get Small Role in Conan Remake
MTV News caught up with Dolph Lundgren who said that he is talking to producers of Conan and might be making an appearance in the reboot.
“I’ve talked to the producers about doing something for ‘Conan,’” Lundgren said, as he cautioned that casting is still going on and whether there is a role for him at all likely wouldn’t be decided until 2010…It’s too early,” he said, explaining that he didn’t expect to know more until “probably next year.”
Directed by Marcus Nispel, the Lionsgate film is based on Robert E. Howard’s mythical conqueror Conan the Barbarian. The new version is expected to be more faithful to Howard’s original creation than were the Arnold Schwarzenegger films.
I have been weary about this film from the start only because I love Schwarzenegger’s original so much. Secondly the plot of the film really didn’t get me going. All that being said I am sure it will good visually and I will be in the theater all bright eye and bushy tailed for a bloody bit of action/adventure/fantasy fun.
I would speculate that Lundgren may be asked to play Conan’s dad in the early part of the film but I was thinking that role would be neat to give to Arnold but then again who wants to see him die. There are similarities to Conan and He-Man so this may be just an ode to Lundgren’s He-Man portrayal.
