Will Sam Worthington Be in Mad Max 4? Production to Begin on June 2010!

The Daily Telegraph is reporting a major update on George Miller’s Mad Max 4: Fury Road, according to the site, the film is set to start shooting in Sydney, Australia as well as in the Outback. Also they are reporting thatTerminator Salvation/Avatar star, Sam Worthington, is said to be starring in the film alongside the recently rumored Charlize Theron. Now its unclear if he will play Max but this is all rumor so lets not get excited.

Pre-production is said to begin immediately, with 30 weeks of filming to be completed in Broken Hill starting June of 2010. The project is said to take two-and-a-half years to complete and it will create thousands of jobs for Australian locals. As reported, Australian Premier Nathan Rees made it a priority to get the film to shoot in his country after losing The Green Lantern, which was “an unexpected blow to the local industry.”

I would really like to see Worthington in the film as he would be naturally perfect. His role in Terminator was somewhat similar being on the run in a post-apocalyptic world. I have some high expectations for this movie as it seems like it is becoming a reboot rather than a remake or continuation. How that makes any difference I’ll let you all comment on it in the bottom.

This is Fantastic News! Everyone should have faith in George Miller. He is one of the greatest Australian Director's of all time. George Miller is the father of Mad Max. Sam Worthington would make a great Max or son of Max. Just remember that this film was originally going to shoot oversea's and now shooting on Aussie turf is not only great news our Aussie actors but for our film industry and economy. The turning point for Australian films has finally begun. To go back to Broken Hill and shoot some of the film there will really help the local economy and will give us all a sense of Deja Vu. Yesterday I purchased the book 'Man On Fire' all about the life of Mad Max stuntman Grant Page and today I wake up hearing that 'Fury Road' is a go. Hopefully Page will be involved in the film in some way. Rev those engines, look in your rear vision mirror, a storm is coming and his name is MAD MAX. I say to George Miller, the late Byron Kennedy would be very proud.
