Ricky Gervais has signed on to host the next installment of the Golden Globes Awards.  Gervais will be the first person to host the popular awards show since 1995.  Gervais released this statement about the award show:

“Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host.  I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down.”

I have enjoyed the few Gervais films that I have seen and I am confident that Gervais will be an interesting and hilarious host.  I may finally watch the Golden Globes in its entirety this year.
