Ivan Reitman Involved in Ghostbusters 3…May Not Direct
So the Ghostbusters 3 news train stalled after Year One exited its publicity rounds and Harold Ramis stopped fielding questions about the film. I think basically all we know at this point is the original busters are returning, there will be a new team of some sorts and some girls will be on that team, finally Judd Apatow is involved in some capacity.
Now we are getting news that former helmer of the franchise, Ivan Reitman, director of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, is in fact attached to get behind the camera for Ghostbusters 3.
BloodDisgusting says,
“While he’s attached, the word is that he hasn’t decided whether or not he really wants to direct, yet. So, yeah, is that news? But here’s a little something else we conjured up. Apparently, the sequel takes place when the paranormal researchers “reopen” their ghost removal service after it has been closed for quite a few years. As previously reported, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver have all confirmed their involvement (in various interviews on the web).”
I would assume Reitman would produce along with Apatow and that Ramis may direct or they’d hire someone new to helm the movie, maybe his son Jason, who has proven to be a great director. This is really isn’t a good update but its something. I guess we will hear more on this project soon as they are supposedly beginning production sometime this winter but I am not sure how substantial that is. There hasn’t been any word on the script approval yet. When we know something new we’ll let you all know.
