Adrien Brody Joins Rodriguez’s Predators

Well this is a casting idea I didn’t see coming. Danny Trejo was confirmed already and makes total since but Brody was not someone I considered for any role in the film especially a soldier. But the cool thing about acting and Hollywood is they can make you believe someone like him is believable in that role.

Brody will play one of the heroic mercenaries forced to battle the alien hunters in Predators, director Nimrod Antal’s reinvention of the Predator franchise for 20th Century Fox being spearheaded by Robert Rodriguez.

The premise of the film we know is that “a mix of eight, multi-racial human warriors, are abducted by the Predators and taken to their homeworld. The humans (which include a Yakuza enforcer, a soldier, a Mexican enforcer) are dropped into what is described as a “game reserve” - with them being the game! Some fantastic weapons - including Uzis and a gas powered rotary machine gun. The introduction of a new variety of Predator, described in the script as the Black Super Predator.”

Brody will star along side (See Pic Below Left to Right) Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Louiz Ozawa.

Production is scheduled to start soon in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. Fox has set the release date for July 9, 2010.

Hmm this doesn't sound like a remake at all. I don't see anything even closely relating to the old plot. That said, I guess it won't be too hard to shoehorn Adrian Brody into the cast. If it was a flat out remake of the original, I could see him as Hawkins (I think that's his name) at best. They would need somebody like John Cena to take over Arnold's role.
