X-Men: First Class to Shoot in 2010? Cyclops Already Cast

Many people who saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine got treated with little tidbits allusions to already made X-Men trilogy. In Origins we find Scott Summers younger and looking a little like James Marsden but obviously not the same actor.

The actor who portrayed the young Summers, was Tim Pocock, an Australian TV actor. Other than Australian TV, Pocock has not done anything in Hollywood except the small role of Scott Summers, which we know from the ending of Wolverine, where ends up. Now according to Pocock’s twitter he will be reprising Summers for the upcoming X-Men: First Class project at Fox.

“Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010…then X-Men: First Class.”

The film was written by Josh Schwartz, but a director hasn’t been officially announced as of yet and this hasn’t been confirmed by the studio. Though Pocock’s role would be consistent with the Wolverine films and the Fox X-Men universe I do have one suggestion of someone who’d be able to do Scott Summers other than Pocock and that is newcomer Brian J. Smith who will be starring in the upcoming SGU. Having already seen him in that series I can tell you he is the next big thing and has a lot of acting chops. A graduate of Juliard, he is a superb actor with a lot to look forward too.

X-Men: First Class is set to be a prequel franchise chronicling the first team and class of X-Men at the Xavier School. We will see the budding romance of Scott (Cyclops) and Jean Grey, the emergence of the team, the things that bring them together and many other things that will build into the future which Brian Singer brought to life.

Singer is also rumored to perhaps come back and direct this prequel/sequel expressing an interest in returning to the universe he helped get started and regretting not doing the third X-Men film.
