Update on Star Wars Live Action TV Series
There hasn’t been and update on this project since March when we reported that Jay Laga’aia from Legend of the Seeker and Episode II’s Captain Typho would be in the series. Now there are some new updates for the Star Wars live action TV show coming out of Dragon Con (via The Examiner) this weekend. When do they expect it to premier? this series has been in development for a long time. At Dragon Con there was a “Future of Star Wars” panel conducted by Steve Sansweet and here is what he had to throw out there.
According to Examiner pre-production on the show will be starting soon and will go through until the new year. Â The writers have been working for a while and, according to Sansweet at the panel, no one knows anything about the story for sure except George Lucas, Rick McCallum and the writers.
The series has always reportedly going to follow the Rebel Alliance as it slowly gains strength against the the evil Empire and it will feature stormtroopers but not Jedi knights or Darth Vader. The series idea also always was going to take place between Episode III and IV and feature bounty hunters, rebel alliance personnel but know one from the main universe cast.
2012 is the reasonably firm date for seeing the project on the air. Â It is a one hour format drama show that will air weekly.
As far as how far casting is along, no major casting deals have been made with anyone but there was a rumor about Daniel Logan who portrayed Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones and that he mighty reprise his role. Regarding that rumor Sansweet said:
“A couple of years ago Rick McCallum (producer) said that he would consider it, and I would expect news from Daniel’s camp in the not-too-distant future.”
I guess the story there is he wants to have him in the show and are definitely considering it. He also reminded the audience that anything other than that especially the stuff on the Internet was probably not true.
