Nicolas Cage As Superman? See the 1990’s Superman Lives Screen Test

So our pals over at the MTV Splashpage have the goods and I mean the goods. Apparently they located a video that shows some of the concept art as well as an image of Nicolas Cage who was once sought out to be Superman.

For those of you who do not know or may have forgotten there was a script that Kevin Smith wrote for a Superman revival called Superman Lives based on the “Death of Superman” arc. The actor that was attached to the role was none other than Nic Cage. The film was to be directed by Tim Burton. Kevin Smith has referred to the film many times in his Evening with Kevin Smith tour.

A photo that recently popped up on TimBurton.jp shows a leaked image from Cage’s screen test for the role of Superman, complete with spandex costume and long, “Death of Superman”-era hair.

So do you think this is real? Could this have been the resurrection of Superman we may have gotten? Did we luck out?

Personally I think Cage looks stoned in the picture. At lease we got Superman Returns instead, not a great film but better than this although the concept art looked quite good.
