Marc Webb to Direct American Remake of Just Another Love Story
On of my favorite films of this year is 500 Days of Summer and its director Marc Webb put together such a great film and do not think that didn’t go unnoticed by anyone because he is now in negotiations to direct a remake of the Danish thriller, Just Another Love Story for Mandate Pictures.
The film revolves around a likeable but world-weary husband, Jonas, with a wife and two kids who lives in a leafy suburb and whose life takes an unexpected twist when he inadvertently if at all causes a woman named Julia, to crash her car and go into a coma. When Julia comes out of her coma her memory has vanished. Via a grotesque mix-up she and her nearest and dearest believe that when Jonas pops into the hospital to see how she is, he is in fact Sebastian, her exotic new boyfriend, whom they had all been expecting to fly in from abroad. Jonas assumes Sebastians identity and pretends to be the man Julia believes is the love of her life: a brand new identity, a brand new life, and an untrammeled existence full of promise opens up to Jonas. But real life cant be lived on fantasy and exotic dreams, and one day the truth comes knocking at the door.
The premise of this film sounds great and I have to say that I am ready for another Marc Webb movie because his style in 500 Days made the movie so awesome – you can see his talent. The premise here seems to fit not only his cinematic use but I see lots of humor here and that is something Webb can also bring out. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite new directors.
