Kick-Ass! Will Hit Theaters April 16, 2010 & The Expendables Pushed to August 20, 2010
Lionsgate’s Twitter page updated with the release date of Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass!, it looks like the studio will be releasing it on April 16, 2010.
In case you do not know Kick-Ass! tells the story of Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), an average teenager and comic-book fanboy who decides to take his superhero obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name, Kick-Ass, and assembles a suit and mask to wear then gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats and is then hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters he then meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage). The movie is based on the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s series.
It looks like The Expendables, which was supposed to come out April 23, 2010, will now come to theaters on August 20 of that year. The film is directed by and written by Sly Stallone, who will be joined onscreen by Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Eric Roberts and Steve Austin. The movie follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.
