Dimension Rolls Out Scary Slate of Sequels and Remakes! Short Circuit & Children of the Corn Just to Name a Few

In the same article where we got the scoop on Neve Campbell returning to the Scream franchise with Courtney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette, there was some other interesting sequel news coming from Bob Weinstein and his Dimension Films banner.

Turns out Weinstein is planning sequels like Spy Kids IV, Halloween III, Hellraisers and Scanners all of which he wants to do in 3D.

“there is no question that financing is readily available to produce and market these films.” He added: “I am eager to expand our scope in the 3D business.”

Robert Rodriguez is writing the new Spy Kids sequel which he plans to direct in 3D and will be a partnership with Disney that will start shooting in March 2010. Another part of his horror/remake slate is a remake of Short Circuit, Children of the Corn and American Werewolf in London.

“These films are our strength and we are committed to doing them in style.” – said Weinstein.

So I guess the horror 3D success of Final Destination and My Bloody Valentine are big support for Weinstein wanting to develop all these horror movies in 3D. I do not really care but having seen My Bloody Valentine in 3D I actually had fun with the movie and feel that certain slasher films are good in that format. I am not sure about the Short Circuit Remake only because the original movie is so good now, wasn’t Wall*E sort of a remake of that anyway?
