David Goyer to Revamp Ghost Rider with Nic Cage
So this doesn’t happen often but with Marvel comics, it does happen. Last year The Incredible Hulk was released as a revamped sequel of sorts to the bust that was Ang Lee’s film. Now Sony has that in mind with Ghost Rider.
David Goyer is in early talks to create the story and supervise writers for a film expected to once again star Nicolas Cage, who played the fiery anti-hero in the 2007 original. Through a spokesperson, Goyer said he hadn’t signed on yet. But plans are already under way to base the sequel on a “Ghost Rider” script written years ago by Goyer.
This new film will be produced by former Marvel president Avi Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul, with Gary Foster on as an executive producer. There is no word on whether Goyer himself will direct the rebooted sequel.
So we are getting a dark sequel from the guy who co-wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight? Gee, does that tell you something? Guess Sony is hoping for something big. I just do not like Ghost Rider and think he sort of a stupid character but maybe they will make something unique but if they really wanted to revamp the film then they need to get Nic Cage away from the film. I mean I know he is a fan but dude you were part of the reason why it sucked.
