Peter Berg Talks About Possible Hancock 2

SCI FI Wire got a chance to talk to Peter Berg about a potential sequel to his hit blockbuster Hancock, which starred Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman. In the conversation the director would gladly make a second film if the studio called for one, and he definitely has some ideas on where it should go story wise.

“There might be another god out there. There might be another one.” Berg also hopes to have the subplot of Jason Bateman’s character carried throughout the new film, with him continuing to work on his charity campaign.

[Spoiler] At the end of the first film, Will Smith’s superhero was revealed to be an immortal god who becomes vulnerable in the presence of his goddess companion (Charlize Theron). Berg said he wants to continue the mythology behind the characters.

There is no telling when Berg and his cast will be able to get together for a sequel. When asked if it would be soon, Peter stated, “They’d like to fast-track it, but Will’s busy, I’m pretty busy. We’re excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don’t feel a burning imperative to go right back into it.”

Berg is really busy with some major projects in the books such as a Battleship project with Universal and Hasbro not to mention his remake of Dune which he recently updated in an interview a few weeks ago. He is also working on a Hercules project for 2011 called, Hercules: The Thracian Wars. It may be awhile before we see aa Hancock 2 plus I haven’t heard anything from the studio saying they are itching to get it out.
