MovieViral News: This Week in Viral
This week in viral news, a campaign has ended but another has just started up, and do you want to be the leader of the world? If so, I’ll tell you how you can do it and what qualifications you’ll need. But first, you should follow @MovieViral on Twitter for the latest and most up-to-date news (not to mention we’ll be giving some things away).
District 9 (minor spoiler alert)
Last week District 9 was released and has been receiving great reviews. But what has happened to the viral/ARG (Alternate Reality Game) campaign? We’ll there weren’t any updates the day it released, but the day after we saw updates on both MNU’s twitter (@MultiNationalU) AND Christophers twitter (@MNU_Lies).
The update to @MultiNationalU isn’t too bad, it’s understandable. Obviously after the movie, MNU would still be in existence. But how is Christopher tweeting from a spaceship? And even if he did have the technology, is tweeting really that important? Where are his priorities!
2012
Want to be the leader of the world after the end of the world? No, I didn’t say that wrong, the Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) is offering just that. Two weeks ago Soren Ulfert (the IHC Communications Director) informed us that the IHC was going to be setting up a series of tasks to see who is the most qualified to lead the world post-2012. The only real rule is you have to be 18 years of age.
If you’re the winner, you win a trip for two to the Mayan Ruins in Cancun. And if you’re one of the 12 runner-ups, you win a Sony PS3 and a Sony Webbie HD Camera. To be honest, I’d rather come in second.
Sherlock Holmes
Yes, Sherlock Holmes has a viral. At least a small one. Yesterday the Warner Bros. twitter tweeted the following twit “SHERLOCK HOLMES needs your help!” along with the URL “http://94.236.57.221/”
If you go to this website, you’ll see an area to type in a password. Type in IRENE. You’ll need speakers to hear the video that plays. In the video, I really have no idea what he’s talking about (since I’m not a huge fan of the Sherlock Holmes series), but it’d be interesting to see this viral expand. After the video plays, there is an option to enter your email, which I suggest you do.
