James McAvoy and Seth Rogen to Star in I’m With Cancer
James McAvoy has signed on to star in Mandate Pictures’ comedic adaptation of I’m With Cancer the Will Reiser novel. Nicole Holofcener will direct, and the pic will co-star Seth Rogen, who is also producing.
This is the first major project McAvoy has agreed to star in since the Universal actioner Wanted and its upcoming sequel Wanted 2. In the film the Scottish actor will play a 25-year-old who learns he has cancer and successfully battles the disease over several years. The character is based on the real experiences of screenwriter Will Reiser, who won his own fight with cancer in his mid-20s. Production is scheduled to begin in January.
I think the duo seems interesting. I really like James McAvoy and think he is one the best upcoming actors. He was great in Wanted and Narnia and should be Bilbo in the upcoming Hobbit. Seth Rogen has some range and I think Funny People proved that a little bit.
