DVD Review: Eli Stone The Final Season

Today, Eli Stone Season 2 was finally released on DVD. Eli Stone aired on the ABC network and told the story of a lawyer who is diagnosed with a inoperable brain aneurysm which causes him to see hallucinations. The hallucinations are predicted to be visions from a higher power that actually predict the future. The show stars Jonny Lee Miller as attorney Eli Stone.

The season 2 DVD includes all 13 episodes of the final season. It also includes 2 special features: Dancin’ In The Streets and Good Morning Eli With Sam & Julie. Along with these 2 features, it includes 3 deleted scenes and a blooper reel.

I have to say that I enjoyed watching the second season over again. The final season was great although it was cut short. The DVD set doesn’t offer much for fans of the show. The “Dancin’ In The Streets” feature is an interesting behind the scenes look at how the musical numbers in the show are produced and shot. The run time for this feature is approximately 11 minutes. It also includes the feature “Good Morning Eli With Sam & Julie”, which is a behind the scenes look at the morning rituals on set with actors Sam Jaeger and Julie Gonzalo who play the roles of Matt Dowd and Maggie Dekker on the show. The set also includes 3 deleted scenes which are a very short and don’t add much to the enjoyment of the DVD set. It also includes a blooper reel, which was hilarious and the viewer gets to see how funny the cast is between takes.

Overall, the DVD set is decent. I would have liked a few more special features to round out this final season of Eli Stone. I was disappointed to see that there were no audio commentaries for any of the episodes. That is something I enjoy on every box set I watch.

Total Score: Buy – If you are a fan of Eli Stone, you will enjoy this DVD set although you’ll be disappointed by the lack of special features.
