Avatar Day Update! Fox Giving Away Free Tickets on Monday

The Los Angeles Times reports that 20th Century Fox, in honor of Avatar Day, will make an unusual offer available on the website for James Cameron’s sci-fi film.

Fans can get “free tickets for an early look at 16 minutes of footage from the futuristic thriller that will be shown in more than 100 Imax 3-D theaters around the world.”

The preview will happen twice on Friday, Aug. 21 at 6 and 6:30 p.m sandwiched between IMAX showings of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince . Fans can expect an introduction from Cameron as well as some new footage not shown during the Comic-Con International convention in San Diego this past July. Avatar will be hitting theaters on December 18.

Imax will be providing 3-D glasses for this event. Tickets will be doled out on a first-come, first-served basis at www.avatarmovie.com at noon PST Monday. Keep checking that website for information, and the participating IMAX theater nearest you. The tickets will only be available online, and the website will eventually reveal just how and where you get them.
