3rd Blair Witch Project in Development?
Many do not realize that the 10th Anniversary of the Blair Witch Project is coming up and now there is talk from creators Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick about a third film in the works.
Sanchez dished a little on the project talking to BBC.COM, saying:
“Ideally, each Blair Witch film would be a completely different kind of movie. We’ve thought about doing a film that takes place in the late 1700s and looks like a [Stanley] Kubrick movie with gritty looking people and lighting. But now, we’re thinking about going back and and seeing what happened directly after the first film finished. I think it will have some kind of video element in it, but it won’t be a first person hand-held movie.”
I am not a fan of horror, I just think it is silly, but that is not news to many of you who read this site everyday. I do however have an appreciation for the Blair Witch legacy stemming from their viral prowess and ingenious vision from the first film. They completely destroyed that with their second film that just was complete 180 from the original and just didn’t work. I am curious to hear more about this project and what the deal is, Sancez seems to have an interesting start.
