Willem Dafoe Joins John Carter of Mars
Andrew Stanton’s (Wall*E, Finding Nemo) next film John Carter of Mars has made its way with lots of casting such as picking up Taylor Kitsch, Thomas Hayden Church and Lynn Collins for the leads. Now Willem Dafoe is joining the cast of the film that revolves around a Civil War soldier who finds himself transported to Mars in the midst of a planetary war. Dafoe will portray Tars Tarkas, the leader of the Thark race, who believes they must avoid war to survive.
Andrew Stanton is directing from a script he co-wrote with Mark Andrews, which is based off the Edgar Rice Burroughs classic novel series. The film is planning on starting production in early 2010.
I like Defoe and enjoy most of the things I have seen him in. There is some weird stuff out there he has been in but he’s still a solid actor for sure. John Carter of Mars is certainly an interesting story and with Stanton involved from the writing to directing it will certainly be a visually stunning film and have high expectations.
