inFAMOUS Getting Big Screen Adaptation

One of the most popular video games out right now is Infamous. I have had a chance to play and see this game in action and the other day I was mentioning that the premise would make for an interesting film. Well turns out I was right and Hollywood execs are itching to develop a film version of the movie.

Sony Pictures has nabbed a pitch from screenwriter Sheldon Turner who will adapt inFAMOUS, the Sucker Punch Prods. video game into a feature film.

The studio is working out a deal for rights to the game, which was published by sister company Sony Computer Entertainment.

inFAMOUS centers on bike messenger Cole MacGrath, who survives an explosion that destroys entire blocks of Empire City only to find he has new electricity-derived super powers. The action game, designed for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, allows the player to use his powers for good or evil, as MacGrath’s karma affects how the devastated city’s people and infrastructure deal with him. A prequel comic book and soundtrack to the game also have been released.

I really like the premise and can see a director implementing the trend of parkour stunts in the film being its part of the game in a sort of supernatural way. If you all remember parkour was the styling used in the opening of Casino Royale where Bond chases a bomb maker through a bazar and it featured eradic climbing and quick movements up walls and stuff using real physical strength no cgi. Parkour is a discipline that appeared first in France, more similar to a martial art than to a sport, it focused on moving from one point to another as smoothly, efficiently and quickly as possible using the abilities of the human body. It is built on the philosophical premise that any obstacle, physical or mental, can be surpassed. Other films who have dabbled in this type of art were the Bourne Ultimatum and Live Free Die Hard.

inFAMOUS is only available on Playstation but there is a similar game known as Prototype that uses the same type of game play and parkour style and that is available on The Xbox.

I am impressed how you handled the information on Parkour within this article. It seems as though many people don't take the time to present Parkour correctly. On another note, doing a movie about a game where moral choices are made that are reflected in the powers the main charatcer possesses may leave many of the fans who chose an alternate route wishing the story be different…

You know I thought of that after I wrote the article and its kind like the best way to make something like this is make him an anti-hero where he isn't doing things for good he just happens to do it while he is doing something bad.

Riddick I guess is the best example or Deadpool. Thanks for the complement.

Riddick I guess is the best example or Deadpool. Thanks for the complement I try to research things and make some good substance. Parkour is something I am interested in and the new Tarzan movie will also implement. But Casino Royale brought it to my attention. It is a very cool thing to watch in my opinion. So I researched it while writing about the game because it seemed logical to put the 2 together.
