Friday Fused Film Classic: Nosferatu (1922)
Nosferatu (1922)
Many horror freaks call F.W. Murnau’s silent German classic the scariest Dracula adaptation ever. The bone-chilling tale kicks off when a sailor on a ghost ship opens a coffin, thereby releasing a vampire named Count Orlok who sets off on a rampage of terror aimed at a real estate agent and his comely wife. The creepy caped one is played by Max Schreck, sporting grotesque makeup that transforms him into a symbol of pestilence and decay.
Not the trailer but the whole movie! For the first time we will have to whole Friday Fused Film Classic on the the site.
I chose Nosferatu because it is the Great Grand Daddy of all Vampire\horror films. Don’t let the fact that it is a silent film scare you away. See how many modern age movies have taken from this film. Normally I will pick a film that is available on Netflix for instant download, which this one is, but I found the whole film on Youtube so I decided to post this way. Turn down the lights and enjoy the original Vampire movie that started it all.
Here is this movie trailer for Shadow of the Vampire. The film is about the making of Nosferatu with Willem Defoe as Count Orlok, it puts a little modern spin on an old classic. Not a remake or a reboot, a retelling with out jacking with the original. Something we don’t see to much of today.
One more thing about this film, Vampires walked around in daylight with no problems. This is the first time day light killed Vampires. It was so popluar that it has become part of the mythos.
Peace out MajorXero!
