Danny Huston Cast as Richard The Lionheart in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood
Danny Huston has joined the cast of the already filming Robin Hood, the next adventure with Russell Crowe to be directed by Ridley Scott. The duo hopes to recreate the style of Gladiator with the classic tale. The film already has a bunch of stars like Crowe, Cate Blancett (Maid Marion), Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, and William Hurt.
Huston will be playing the historical figure King Richard. He was later dubbed Richard the Lionheart because of what he did in the Third Crusade.
This film that was written by Ethan Reiff, Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland. Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind) is producing along with Scott and Crowe.
Huston was recently seen in Wolverine as William Stryker and will be playing Poseidon in the remake of Clash of the Titans.
I am still skeptical of this movie. The Scott brothers, Ridley and Tom, have not thrilled me like thye used too. American Gangster sucked and Taking of Pelham was awful. I love Gladiator and that visual style mixed with a unique portryal of Robin Hood could be entertaining but let’s be honest do we need another Robin Hood movie? Huston is a good actor but will King Richard have a big part? In every incarnation of the story of Robin Hood I have seen – probably not.
