Bill Nighy Cast in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

In a story from The Leaky Cauldron it appears that Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) has been cast in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

“I don’t think I’m allowed to say it but I’m going to be in the next Harry Potter film,” Nighy says. “I won’t say which character, but he’s a goodie. I just got the gig.”

It seems the actor most likely will be playing the character of Rufus Scrimgeour, though nothing is confirmed. Scrimgeour serves as the Minister for Magic of the United Kingdom, succeeding Cornelius Fudge.

He is described as looking like an old lion with tawny hair and bushy eyebrows, with yellow eyes and wire-rimmed spectacles. Before being selected as minister, Scrimgeour headed the Auror Office of the Ministry and he is heavily battle-scarred from his years of service as an Auror, giving him an appearance of shrewd toughness. As minister, he visits the Muggle Prime Minister with Fudge, now a powerless advisor, to inform him about recent wizarding events, crucial to internal security.
