2009 Comic-Con: Tron: Legacy Overwhelms with Familiar and Not So
The last portion of the Walt Disney panel featured the entire cast and crew of the new Tron film which is now confirmed as Tron: Legacy.
Jeff Bridges was in attendence talking about his excitement to revist the character of Kevin Flynn and the world of Tron, saying it wasn’t that difficult to revisit and evolve the character.
The 2 biggest portions of the panel featured new concept art such as a revision of the light runner which can go off grid with its own power and its a two seater. Director Joseph Kosinski talked about the film’s nature and that it will be doing some things never before done. He also talked about Flynn’s bike and that it will still be the fastest bike in the Tron.
Footage Description
Lastly we got some footage of the film that just finished principal photgraphy. The footage shown revealed a worn out and dillapidated Flynn’s with a voice over saying “I always told you if I ever heard anything about your father you’d be the first to know. Well i got a call from his shop and its a number that’s been disconnected for 20 years.”
While the voice over was going on we see a motorcylce pull up to Flynn’s with Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) entering the store. Little gadgets turn on in some places or have remained on. The music playing is Journey’s Separate Ways. Flynn goes to the back of the room where he finds a game marked Tron, when he puts his Flynn’s token in the game spits it out. Flynn moves the game console and enters a door behind it once through the game console closes behind somewhat ominously and Tron Legacy forms on screen.
Lastly we got to see the pitch video that showed last year greenlighting the sequel but this time it was in 3D and it was awesome…the scope was indescribable but if all of Tron Legacy is going to be like this then everyone in the world is in for a treat for one of the most visually epic films ever.
