Viral News: New 9 Viral Site Features Scientist’s Lab

A new viral website for Focus Features’ upcoming animated film 9, directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton and Timur Beckmambetov is now live.

The ’9′ Scientist’s lab, located at http://9Experiment.com, has recently become open to the public. Explore and discover the Scientist’s inner most thoughts, ideas and inventions through his personal journal, videos, clippings, sketches, and more. Spend some time exploring his archives, and actively participate in the development of the story leading up to the opening scene of the film.

The film is getting a limited  September 9th 2009 and revolves around a new era in animated storytelling. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch) join forces to produce director Shane Acker’s distinctively original and thrilling tale, 9.

The film stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and features the music of Danny Elfman. When 9 (Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them. Pamela Pettler who screenplayed Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, and the 3D film Monster House, penned the screenplay for Acker’s creation.

I am really pumped about this movie and its sophistication for an animated film. Shane Acker has managed to create something pretty cool with 9. Though the release is limited right now I hope they see fit to give it a major release date because it is definitely a movie everyone is going to want to see. See the trailer below!
