Universal Discover’s Where’s Waldo?

Remember those ultimate universal questions like Where do We come from? What happens when we die? Where’s Waldo?

Well they haven’t figured out answer to the first two or rather there is some running theories but the answer to Waldo is - he at Universal Pictures.

The studio has picked up the movie rights to the popular children’s books series from Classic Media with the target of making a live-action family film. The book series was originally set up as a co-picture foe Paramount and Nickelodeon, with John Schultz attached to direct a script that had been worked on by scribes such as Adam Rifkin, Adam Cooper and Bill Collage.

The plot they devised revolved around Waldo ending up traveling through time after accidentally activating a malfunctioning time-travel machine. An American Doctor Who of sorts.

There is no word on whether or not Universal will continue that script development started or start fresh with a whole new concept. That being said Waldo has a lot of ways you can go and could make for an entertaining film but could very much be the opposite it really depends on the talent enlisted on the project. Personally Waldo as a Doctor Who type guy wouldn’t be a bad idea to start with.

We talked about this when Hasbro and Universal struck a deal to develop movie concepts from the narrative free storytelling provided by the Hasbro games and that A-List Hollywood talent was attracted to the brands because of that. I think Waldo makes the same type of case.
