Top 7 Father’s Day Films to Watch
Happy Father’s Day out there to all dads of all ages. We love our fathers and what they all bring to our lives especially their love of movies. We decided to put together a list of 7 films that everyone should watch with their dad. They are in no particular order just 7 movies we know dads would want to watch on Father’s Day.
1. Die Hard - What is better than watching Bruce Willis running through a building of terrorists with no shoes and endless cowboy mouth? Most dads are sure to love this classic action flick that brought us Yippie Kay Yay in a whole new light. Explosions, Alan Rickman falling out a window and high adrenaline thrills for you and dad on Father’s day.
2. The Great Escape - The quentisential adventure film revolving around POW’s in a Naxi war camp. Steve McQueen, the ultimate bad ass! man’s man stars along side James Coburn, Richard Attenborough and James Garner in this fun adventure to plan the greatest escape ever. This is a great movie for dads looking harness the old school adventure films.
3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - perhaps the best movie to watch on Father’s Day because it is about a father and son. Indy and his father Henry Jones Sr. are thrown in the mix of a Nazi plot to steal the Holy Grail and reak havoc on the world. Starring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery as the dilectable duo of adventures, the classic banter and father/son relationship is never better in this is classic adventure featuring one of the greatest heroes of all time.
4. Father of the Bride 1 & 2 - just put both of these Steve Martin films together because they are classic comedies featuring Martin as the do it all father who just aims to please. Daddy’s girls will love to sit on the couch and watch this with dad. Some fathers may not be into the explosions and heavy action which is why this movie series is a perfect alternative.
5. Star Wars Original Trilogy - The sci-fi epic that started it all. The immortal words, “Luke I am Your Father,” pretty much solidify this classic space opera series as a must watch for Father’s day. Created by George Lucas, the story is about a young boy whos destiny to become a Jedi takes him on an adventure saving the galaxy from the ruthless Galactic Empire ultimately learning his past along the way. Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Han Solo are just some of the classic characters that dads will love to watch this father’s day. Hope, Empire and Jedi are all classics to watch!
6. The Pursuit of Happiness - Your father’s day movie doesn’t have to be laughter or thrills it can also be a wonderful and sentimental journey through life. The Pursuit of Happiness may be that movie because it shows the story of one man who sacrifices everything to keep his son while starting a career he never imagined. A heartwarming performance from Will Smith and son Jaden, this movie is definitely for the dads who want something sentimental to watch.
7. National Lampoons’ Vacation - There is probably some better choices here but I couldn’t help but throw in a Chevy Chase movie, especially when he plays everyone’s favorite dad, Clark Griswold. Vacation is the first in the classic series and sets the tone for the do it all, try to hard dad that just wants to have the ideal vacation with his family ultimately giving us classic hi-jinks in the process this is great comedy to watch on Father’s Day.
Some Quick other suggestions: Mrs. Doubtfire, Back To the Future Trilogy and True Lies
