Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Thomas Hayden Church Join John Carter of Mars

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins have both landed the lead roles in John Carter of Mars being developed by Andrew Stanton for Pixar, from a script he wrote with Mark Andrew.

Kitsch will portray the title character, John Carter, a Civil War veteran who somehow gets transported to Mars and finds himself between a war on the dying planet and Collins will portray Dejah Thoris, the heir to the throne of Mars’ Hellium Kingdom.

Both Kitsch and Collins were just seen together in this summer’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

ReelTalk’s Jeffery Lyons, also has some information about Thomas Hayden Church joining the cast as well. During a recent discussion with Lyons, Church (Spider-Man 3, Sideways) let it be known that he is most likely going to be in the film John Carter of Mars. Here is what he had to say:

“I probably am going to do a huge science fiction drama at Disney called John Carter of Mars in the spring and that’s a very dramatic role.” Church stated.

Created by Edgar Rice Burroughs - John Carter first appeared in 1911’s A Princess of Mars, the first Burroughs novel set on the fictionalized version of Mars. Carter encounters both formidable alien creatures resembling the beasts of ancient myth and various humanoids and finds his true calling in life as a warrior-savior of the planet’s inhabitants. He wins the hand of Martian princess Dejah Thoris of Helium.

So Gambit is stealing Wolverine’s woman, cool! Kitsch is a good actor and I am glad to see he is getting his due on the big-screen. He will be really good as Carter and as far as Church is concerned, he is awesome but I am curious to know who he going to play.

We will keep you up to date on this sci-fi epic that Disney/Pixar and Stanton are developing.
