Update on Kirsten Dunst’s Return for Spider-man 4
Sam Raimi is giving an update on the Kirsten Dunst return status that has been the subject of blogging conversation since the announcement of a fourth Spider-man film. The director may need to get another redhead for his film because it seems Dunst hesitation and uncertainty is still there.
According to MTV Splash Page, Raimi revealed that he’s uncertain on whether or not Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson for Spider-Man 4.
“Kirsten? I have talked with her, and she’s very excited about the possibility of it,” Raimi revealed, insisting that although Dunst is willing, it will be the director’s call to make after he reads the script by (David) Lindsay-Abaire. “I think I’m going to have to read the screenplay and make sure everything we’ve talked about is working, before I could honestly tell you absolutely how [Dunst's possible return] would go.”
Raimi revealed that the script by playwright David Lindsay-Abaire will be ready soon.
“He says that he’ll be done in about four weeks with his first draft. So that’s where I am right now. And I’m just about to hire a production skeleton.”
As much as I am annoyed by the Mary Jane Watson character I get her importance and it may not be the character but Dunst’s portrayal of her. I do however dislike changing actresses midstream for the same role. It was okay with Dark Knight but in Mummy 3 it was the worst replacement ever. I say bring Dunst back if you can or write her character out if she is unable to return, make something up like she is LA trying to become a film star because the broadway thing isn’t working out. There problem solved.
